I started this self-esteem blog to make women of color feel better about themselves. Too many of us settle for less because we don't think we can have it all. I hope these blog posts will help you realize you can have it all and so much more.

Change Starts Here started as a series self-esteem workshops facilitated by Brianti Downing in 2007 and early 2008. In late 2008, Brianti sought to find a way for the workshop’s key points to reach a larger audience, so she turned the workshop into two separate columns that ran simultaneously on the websites for college publications; one for the general student body and another for students of color. In 2010, the blog became independent.When Brianti was in middle school and during her first year of high school, she was very insecure. Instead of giving in to those insecurities, she focused on finding solutions to become a more confident person. She plans to dedicate her life to make sure she can make as many women as possible realize how amazing they truly are.
Brianti, a journalism major, took a brief hiatus during her last semester of college, the busiest time of her life, and returned to the blog in late May. She is currently working full-time for a national news wire service and working to expand the Change Starts Here brand.
